Paul Avion & Par Avion Band, “Pop Music United Rock”.

Par Avion Band fuses elements of dance electro-rock, moog synth, space-age bossa nova and even psychedelica and Brit pop to create a fun smorgasbord of styles, playfully called “Pop of the Future”.

Their CD, Pop Music United, fancifully set in the year 2685, features vocals and cello by Tanya Haden (Silversun Pickups’ Pikul) and the work of Paul Avion, Zachary Ginder, Andrew Rivera and Zandro Urbiztondo.

Par Avion Band’s music has been likened to “Hello goodbye meets Weezer” and influences cited include David Bowie, The Postal Service, Franz Ferdinand, Joni Mitchell, Elliott Smith, Serge Gainsbourg and the Beatles.

Hot off their Los Angeles debut, Par Avion Band is coming to Sacramento State’s Redwood Room on March 19, 2008.

Marcel, “Brazill”.

Recording Artist and Motivational Speaker, Marcel P. Blanchet

While studying at Berklee College of Music, he became involved in and studied Commercial Jingle writing. He began working with the television station WJAR TV 10 in Providence Rhode Island, writing jingle and news intros, and recording commercial spots. This led him down the road to recording drums and percussion for others, including touring and playing drums in the Broadway shows, Ain ‘t Misbehavin ‘, Guys and Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and ElJohn a Tribute to Elvis. Marcel eventually landed in Nashville, TN, where he continued recording jingles, Radio and TV commercials sound tracks and production music used in documentaries and corporate presentations and started to work with SONY Tree Productions, ” I was recording for songwriters who wanted to land their own recording deals”. Sony/ATV Music Publishing Nashville, works include Brooks & Dunn, Lee Ann Womack and Blake Shelton and many others.

Marcel is now in demand as a drum clinician motivational speaker. Endorsed by Zildjian Cymbals, PEACE drums and percussion he is known as an expert in the field, he demonstrates new drum and percussion products and uses his drumming skills to motivate his audiences to keep on striving for greater accomplishments. Sharing his story and lessons learned with audiences of all ages, he strengthens attitudes and helps build creativity. In every speaking engagement he includes the topic of the importance of hearing protection a very special topic dear to his heart.

Designed for a small theater space, there are interactive exercises and experiences for students to participate in that demonstrate how useful these “real life” tools can be.

Cloud 9, “Trials and Tribulations”.

Cloud 9 has a style of music that is equally satisfying on both cd and at live shows. Comprised of six musicians whose goal is to stretch genres and create a new vibe of music that lends equally to tight instrumental as well as catchy word play. With shows that drive hard energy anthems combined with mellow mood crowd pleasers the band has constructed a sound that has made the music experience fun again. Cloud 9 is going places, this is not a pompous statement from the boys but rather a true to life claim of there recent influx of shows reaching as far as Texas. Though the band is in its infancy as far as its life span all members are seasoned vets of other projects and together deliver a sound that is catchy and new.
